Debt

Here is what our starting debt was when Brian and I started the Total Money Makeover in May 2011.

Kellie Credit Card 1 - $1280
Lowes - $497
Bank loan - $3154.30
Brian Credit Card - $2923.04
Best Buy - $1950.87
Home Depot - $1099.58
Kellie Credit Card 2 - $10,031.31
Raymour & Flanigan Credit - $2700.95

That is $23,637.05 in debt! And that is not even including our 2 car payments and my college school loan which would bring our grand total of starting debt to $67,182.55!!!
Yes you read that right! $67,182.55. It gets worse if you want to see our mortgage, but I'll spare that on this site.

We were swallowed in all these "affordable little payments" that bought us what we wanted right then and there.  We would worry about it later since the payments were so small... riiiiight.  After really seeing just how bad our debt was, I started to read Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover.  I finished the book in just a few short days and was ready to start our journey to becoming debt free.  I hosted a garage sale, sold some things on ebay and made a budget we could stick to.  It was hard at first but it has been completely worth it.

As of January 2012, Here is where we stand.

Kellie Credit Card 1 - $1280
Lowes - $497
Bank loan - $3154.30
Brian Credit Card - $2923.04
Best Buy - $1950.87
Home Depot - $1099.58
Kellie Credit Card 1 - $2890
Kellie Credit Card 2 - $10,031.31
Raymour & Flanigan Credit - $2700.95

We are well on our way to becoming debt free! By March 2012, we plan to have that first credit card paid off and will be able to focus much of our money towards that large credit card.  Our goal is to have that credit card paid off by February 2013.
